I. Discovery

The goal of this Phase is to meet and work with stakeholders to understand the project, determine needs, and discover solution opportunities. In this stage we build a long term vision for the project, including guiding principles. Goals and strategy are setup to achieve this vision. Initial research and inspiration into technical, experiential, and interactive ideas will be done.  Out of this phase project requirements, research insights, and inspirations are collected.

II. Concept

This phase is used to create a conceptual and organizational strategy for the project.  We will begin creation of a holistic view of the various aspects of the project, and the relationship between the elements and disciplines. Design options are presented to stakeholders to provide feedback. The results of this phase are an overview and developed framework of experiences, interactions, and technologies in service of the strategic goals.  In some cases, user testable projects will be generated from this phase.

III. Development

The Development Phase brings the design from overview to the level of detail needed for clarification before production.  Prototypes, drawings, diagrams, models, and videos are made as needed to develop the design and prepare for production.  Design and technical elements are refined to a level that allows for a handoff of elements to production. After details are presented to key stakeholders, a production roadmap is passed to the next phase.

IV. Production & Testing

Production is the process of bringing the project to fruition in it’s most robust form. Construction of elements, integrations of the components, and plans for maintenance are all formed in this stage.

V. Launch & Listen

Many components from Marketing, Public Relations, Design, and Technology teams must integrate for the launch of the project, whether tied to a specific event, or the result of a private beta. In this phase the bulk of activity changes from the creative output to the methods of listening for feedback and helping the idea land in the public imagination.
